5 Things to Do While You're Still a Single Christian

Things to do while you're still a single Christian

Sometimes, being single can feel like a drag, especially if you desire a Christ-centered relationship. But it’s a super valuable season of life! It's a time to grow, discover your passions, deepen your relationship with God, and prepare for the future. Here are five things to do during your single season to make the most of it.

1. Grow as an Individual

Your single years are the perfect time to focus on personal growth. Pursue hobbies and interests that excite you. Take up reading, learn a new instrument, or engage in creative projects. Proverbs 19:8 says, "The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper." By investing in yourself, you become a well-rounded person who brings more to any future relationship.

2. Deepen Your Relationship with God

Use this time to strengthen your spiritual foundation. Pray, read your Bible, and worship on the daily. Join a small group or Bible study at your church. Psalm 119:105 reminds us, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Developing a close relationship with God now will guide you through all stages of life, including dating and marriage.

3. Discover Your Passion

Finding what you're passionate about can lead to a fulfilling life and career. Volunteer for causes that resonate with you, take classes in subjects that interest you, and seek God's direction in your pursuits. Colossians 3:23 encourages us, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." When you find your passion, you can serve God and others more effectively.

4. Learn to Love Yourself

Spend time alone and practice self-care. Learn to love and appreciate who God made you to be while also learning to be complete all by yourself. Psalm 139:14 says, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Embracing this truth helps you become confident and content in your singleness.

5. Prepare to Be the Best Husband or Wife

Preparing for a future marriage starts now. Read books on Christian dating and marriage, attend seminars and workshops, and seek advice from godly couples. Pray for your future spouse and ask God to shape you into the partner He wants you to be. Ephesians 5:24-25 instructs, "Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." Understanding and practicing sacrificial love now sets the stage for a healthy and loving marriage.

Enjoy this season of singleness by focusing on growth, passion, and deepening your relationship with God. These experiences will not only enrich your life but will also prepare you to be a better partner in the future. Remember, God's timing is perfect, and He has a plan for every stage of your life.
