What Does It Mean to Date God?

Have you heard that you should “date God?” It might sound strange initially, but when you dive deeper into its meaning and implications, it proves to be a powerful tool for spiritual growth and connection. Keep reading to learn what it looks like practically and why it’s essential to date God as a Christian single.

Understanding the Concept of Dating God

As Christians, we’re called to love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds (Matthew 22:37). But how can you love someone if you don’t know them? That’s what dating God is all about: seeking to know Him better, understand His plans for you, and align your will with His.

"Dating God" isn't a romantic love. Rather, it's about developing a closer, more intimate relationship with God. It's about dedicating specific time each day, as one would for a partner, to engage in activities that bring you closer to Him. This could include prayer, reading the Bible, meditation, or simply spending quiet time in His presence.

Understanding the Importance of Dating God

Dating God holds immense significance for Christian singles, and here's why:

  • Deepens Faith: Regularly spending time with God deepens your faith and strengthens your spiritual foundation.

  • Provides Guidance: This dedicated time can be used to seek God's guidance on various aspects of life, including challenges and decisions related to dating.

  • Promotes Peace: In an increasingly chaotic world, time spent with God offers a sanctuary of peace and calm.

  • Enhances Personal Growth: As you draw closer to God and understand His teachings better, it fosters personal and spiritual growth.

Understanding the Benefits of Dating God While Dating

When you date God while dating others, it provides a spiritual compass to guide your actions and decisions in your romantic relationships. It helps you remain grounded in your faith, ensuring your actions align with your beliefs.

Overall, dating God is a powerful practice you can adopt to enhance your spiritual journey and dating journey. It has nothing to do with romance and everything to do with deepening your faith, finding guidance, and experiencing peace while dating. As you start dating God, you'll find that this unique relationship brings a sense of fulfillment and joy that transcends ordinary human relationships.

Romance and physical intimacy is great, but ebbs and flows, and can fail to sustain relationships and marriages. Marriages that last are anchor…

If God is a man, and I date him as a man, would it be a sin as a homosexual relationship? If God is living in sin, then he can relate to me the sinner, much better thereby deepening our relationship, which is the goal. So I'm going to get closer to God by sinning with more men

This is kind of stupid. Pursuing a relationship with God is not a new idea, and trying to call it “dating God” doesn’t make it new. All it does is create a shock factor because the language is confusing, as the author admits at the beginning of the article.
