We believe that our story didn't begin when we started talking on Upward, but it was part of God's plan long before we knew each other. We both grew up in loving, supportive Christian families and had similar upbringings, with both of us being one of five children. Despite some rebellious moments, we both have always had good hearts and love deeply. We got married at a young age - Joey at 18 and Jessy at 19. After six children and some heartache, we found ourselves looking for love once again.
Surprisingly, we found each other on a dating app. Jessy's cousin, who works for Upward, recommended her new Christian app to her. Initially skeptical, Jessy eventually agreed to give it a try. She met Joey on the app within the first day, and they talked for a couple of weeks before meeting in person. Despite Jessy's hesitations about the 1.5-hour distance between them, Joey was eager to meet and "see where things go." Their first meeting at a restaurant on the McKinney square lasted for three hours, and they ended up going to a movie nearby where they were too preoccupied with each other to pay attention to the movie. The day ended with a last first kiss, and it has been quite an adventure since then.
We truly believe that God brought us together as a testament to His grace and love, helping us overcome our past and demonstrating His love through each other and our supportive family and friends. We are grateful for everyone who has been part of our journey and look forward to sharing the rest of our lives together.
